Sawai Madhopur Tourism Guide

About 180 kms northwest of Jaipur, along the foothills of the Aravali ranges Vindhyas and is the town of Sawai Madhopur. The town established in 1765 AD was called after its founder Sawai Madho Singh-I of Jaipur.Nowadays Sawai Madhopur is known for Ranthambhor, a Wildlife reserve and a place of historical importance.

Rana Kumbha captured the fort Ranthambhor mid-15th century. After the death of Aurangzeb, the fort was taken by the rulers of Jaipur.
