Dausa is situated on National Highway No. eleven, fifty-four-km east of Jaipur; Dausa is an ancient town of archaeological significance. It had the privilege of individual one of the formerly kingdoms of Kachhawah rulers of Dhundhar. An old fort and several havelis are situated in and around Dausa.
Dausa is an ancient place. Carlyle in the year 1871-1872 AD is a series of stone circles on the sloping terrain to the north foot of the hill. One or two members are cromlechs, some mounds and a sepulchral mound of prehistoric date. Daya Ram Sahni, an archaeologist, also visited Dausa and discovered other interesting antiquities, which are believed to belong to the medieval period. The excavations are a collection of fragments of 40 or 50 of the stone images of some of the major Hindu gods and goddesses.
History
Dausa was a major policy for the region Dundhar. Gov. Raja Soodh Dev Chauhan ruled this region for 996 to 1006 AD. Later, from 1006 AD to 1036 AD, Raja Dule Rai ruled this region for 30 years. Dausa has given the prominent freedom fighters to nation.
Late Shri Tikaram Paliwal and Late Shri Ram Karan Joshi were among the freedom fighters who gave their valuable contribution to the struggle for independence and union of states in the Principality to form the state of Rajasthan.
Late Shri Tikaram Paliwal was the first Chief Minister of Rajasthan in 1952 after independence. In addition, Late Shri Ram Karan Joshi was the first Panchayati Raj Minister of Rajasthan state, which introduced the first bill in the Vidhansabha Panchayati Raj in 1952.
The famous poet of the traditional cult of poetry, Sant Sunderdas Chaitra Shukla Navami was born in Vikram Samvat 1653 in Dausa. He was famed Nirgun panthi famous Sant and wrote 42 Grantha, which Gyan Sunder Vilas Sundaram and are famous Grantha.
Dulha Rai : The Valorous King
Dulha Rai, the real conqueror of Dhundhar, was a youth of remarkable beauty and valour and hence got his name "Dulha Rai" or the "bridegroom prince". His fame attracted to his banners, the voluntary support of all the spirited chiefs in the neighborhood . Dulha married the daughter of Ralhansi, the Chauhan Raja of Lalsot, and received as his wife's dowry, half the share of the fort of Dausa (and its adjacent area), which his father-in-law owned. The other half belonged to a Bargujar family. After securing half of Dausa Fort by marriage, Dulha Rai, with the armed help of his wife's kinsmen and no small amount of chicanery, expelled the Bargujars from their portion of Dausa, and that city became the first capital of the Kachhawahs in Dhundhar land.

Nilkanth Mahadev Temple
A large stone Linga, also found whose top only is visible above ground. At first it belonged to a Shiva temple atop the hill and a temple of Mahadev Nilkanth now occupies the site.
Mataji Ka Mandir
Another group of finely carved sculptures dating back to12th century after Christ which is venerated the wall being built in front of a modern temple (built in 1965) known as Mataji ka Mandir etc.
Flora and Fauna
Dausa district belongs to the region of the Indus Plains flora of India. Each region has its characteristic species. This area is equipped with Acacia nilotica (Babool) Asenegal (Kumta), Anogeissus (Dhok), Prosopis (Khejadi), Capparis (Kair) and Caotropis (AK). This vegetation is typically tropical forests throne.
The district is endowed with a variety of habitats. The district, though not rich in the dense forest growth, which supports considerable biological diversity. In terms of regions of fauna is concerned, the district belongs to the eastern region. Of the characteristic fauna of the region, the wild animals that still survive in the district are monkeys, lemurs (langoor), panther, black money and peacocks.
