Speaking of battles again, most (in) famous in the history of Dholpur is perhaps the battle of Samugarh, organized by the Ran-ka-Chabutra in Rajasthan. (4.8 kilometers). Aurangzeb (son of Shah Jahan) fought his elder brother Dara in 1658 to take the throne of the Mughal Empire, the first is the small army defeated the little army of the latter.
There is a story behind this unfortunate shift that changed the course of the history of Rajasthan, India. During the battle, Dara step down from his elephant just to solve a trivial matter. Not seen in his position, his army was believed dead, and panicked.
Word spread quickly around and this led to a battle ends abruptly and Aurangzeb was declared the winner. Dholpur should have been a favorite battlefield Aurangzeb because he was here next year. This time he faced a chat Sal, Bundi Hara Chauhan, who fought in the name of Shah Jahan (see History of Bundi for details).
